Hon. David Sitoi, MCA Bartabwa Ward pursuant to Standing Order No. 32 in the afternoon session moved a motion of county importance on the rampant cases of insecurity and banditry currently being witnessed in Baringo North.
Hon. Sitoi in his sentiments, expressed the pain he underwent when he had to bury 6 people from the same clan who succumbed to gunshots from the bandits' riffle.
While seconding the motion, Hon. Michael Chebon, MCA Saimo Soi stated that the better part of the salary the MCAs from the banditry prone areas draw is used in fueling the vehicles to ferry the banditry victims, settling hospital bills and fundraising for the burial.
He urged the leaders from Tiaty to come together and work with the other leaders from Baringo in order to find a lasting solution to the banditry. He further urged the County Government to have a special kitty as a short-term solution to enable the victims get food, clothing, education, and shelter before a long-term solution is found.
At the end of the lengthy session, which was marred by emotions, the MCAs pledged to work together towards the restoration of peace and harmonious co-existence with the warred communities.
